The form's mix of name, birth date, ZIP, and street information authenticates the voter. It is not a browse-all-voters search.
Fix a Severn Voter Lookup
A no-match does not prove that a Severn voter registration is missing. First try the exact name used when registering. A former name may work when a recent name change has not reached the daily data. After a move, try the prior residential ZIP. Online and motor-vehicle submissions can take up to three weeks to appear, so a same-day change will not show at once.
If those checks fail, contact the Anne Arundel County Board of Elections instead of making speculative searches. Staff can address registration issues without turning private authentication details into a public inquiry.

What Severn Voter Records Contain
A successful self-lookup can confirm the voter's registration, offer a duplicate registration-card request, identify the polling place and districts, show the local board, and provide ballot-status and sample-ballot links. Bulk voter records are different products. Their registered-voter list fields include identity, political geography, registration dates, and status. The inventory below describes distributed list data, not everything entered into the self-lookup.

Confidential under Maryland law. Date of birth, Social Security number, and motor-vehicle identifier are not distributed list fields. Election Law §3-506 also automatically withholds an Address Confidentiality Program participant's residence address.
Severn Voter Roll Products
Maryland offers more than one voter-file product because election tasks differ. A standard registered list can include active and inactive voters and selected history. A separate participation-history file adds method, date, precinct, and early-voting location. It records whether and how someone took part, but never how that person voted.
A walking list is an uneditable PDF arranged by precinct and street. Its unusual layout puts even-numbered addresses in the left column and odd-numbered addresses in the right, with voters and party below each address. It is not available as a statewide product. Mail-in, provisional, early-voting, and cure lists have their own election-specific status and ballot fields.
Maryland Voter File Eligibility
Only a Maryland registered voter may obtain a copy under Election Law §3-506. The applicant must submit a written application and swear that the data will serve an electoral-process purpose. Permitted examples include voter registration, party formation, candidate qualification, petitions, elections and recounts, ballot work, and campaign finance. Commercial solicitation and other unrelated uses are barred.
The State Board of Elections voter-data instructions say one application is needed for each list. Completed orders are ordinarily supplied within ten working days after application and payment. Before an election, the request must arrive by the advanced-registration deadline, 21 days before election day. A later request is returned and may be filed after election day.
The state instructions separate lawful file orders from the self-lookup and set the timing rules that apply near an election.
Request Maryland Voter Registration Data
The current Application for Voter Registration Data was revised June 30, 2026. It asks for the applicant's residence, conditional organization details, a plain description of the intended use, the geographic area, list type, election filters, voter limits, delivery choice, and a signed oath.
- Choose statewide data for $125, or one county, Baltimore City, or one district for $75. Specify Anne Arundel County for a countywide file that includes Severn.
- Select the product and filters. Options include walking, mail-in, provisional, early-voting, cure, registered-voter, and history files, plus party, active-status, registration-date, and election filters.
- Choose secure FTP at no added fee or add $15 for a flash drive. Data files are tab-separated; walking lists are PDF files.
- Sign the oath and send payment. Accepted methods include card, certified, personal, or campaign check, or money order payable to the State Board of Elections.

Severn Voter Records Use Limits
The oath is a real legal boundary. An applicant agrees not to distribute, sell, or transfer the voter data and not to use any part for commercial solicitation or a purpose unrelated to the electoral process. Knowing non-electoral use of a controlled list is a misdemeanor. The form states a penalty of 30 days to six months, a fine up to $250, or both.
Keep the file within its sworn purpose. Voter rolls may not be repurposed for private curiosity, transferred to another person, or used to target and harass voters.
Participation history needs care too. It can show an election, voting method, date, and location, but it never reveals a ballot choice. The state also says voter data may not be used to investigate alleged violations of a voter's behavior in a specific election.
Severn Voter Registration Contacts
Severn has no city election office. The Anne Arundel County Board of Elections directory is the local fallback for registration, mail-in voting, polling places, precincts, operations, and outreach. Severn Election Service Geography
Voter records remain with county and state custodians even when an election service is physically in Severn. The county's 2026 list places Drop Box 09 at Severn Library, 2624 Annapolis Road. That local access point does not make the library a voter-record office or create a separate Severn roll.

The distinction matters: use the library location for the listed election service, and use the county board or Maryland portal for registration records. Always confirm current dates, office hours, published contacts, and service details with election officials before acting on an older notice.
Historical Severn Voter Registration Sources
A present-day Voter Search result cannot answer every family-history question. It authenticates one current voter and does not expose a public roll of neighbors or prior residents. Older voter-related research therefore moves away from the live tool and toward the Maryland State Archives, local newspapers, census schedules, land records, probate files, and church or cemetery sources. These collections can place a name in Anne Arundel County even when a modern registration has changed or been cancelled.
Historical poll books and registration lists must be read in their period geography. Severn is not an incorporated city, and nearby records may be organized under an Anne Arundel election district, a precinct, Harmans, Odenton, Fort Meade, or another local label. A directory entry or poll reference should be compared with a deed, census household, obituary, or estate record before it is assigned to the Severn CDP.
The modern voter file also distinguishes participation history from ballot content. Historical materials require the same care. A poll book may show that a person appeared, registered, or was assigned to a district, but it does not establish a private ballot choice. Name spelling, initials, former surnames, and boundary changes can create apparent conflicts between sources.
Start with a narrow year and the election geography used at that time. Record the page, district, precinct, and repository citation, then compare the person with a same-period address source. This method helps separate voters with similar names and prevents a modern Severn label from being projected onto an older Anne Arundel record. Archive staff can identify series available only on microfilm or through a catalog request.
